Standard Methods Performance Requirements (SMPRs)

Methods submitted to AOAC in response to a call for methods may be granted Official MethodSM status by vote of an expert review panel, if the methods meet AOAC’s adopted standards. These voluntary, consensus standards developed by AOAC’s stakeholders are called standard method performance requirements (SMPRs) and prescribe the minimum acceptable analytical performance requirements for classes of analytical methods. SMPRs related to agent detection assays, infant formula and adult nutritionals, flavanols, heavy metals, and antioxidant activity in foods, and many more are published in the AOAC Official Methods of Analysis of AOAC INTERNATIONAL and in the Journal of AOAC INTERNATIONAL.
