Call for Experts
Independent Technical Assessment of Disinfectant Methods
AOAC and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have spearheaded a collaborative effort to modernize and improve the quality of efficacy test standards for disinfectants. As part of this effort, AOAC/EPA seeks (1) experts for antimicrobial efficacy testing of Clostridium difficile and (2) volunteers to assist in revising Official MethodSM 960.09.
Antimicrobial Efficacy Testing of Clostridium difficile
AOAC and EPA seek experts for building consensus on the technical aspects of evaluating the efficacy of disinfectants against spores of C. difficile. Experts will develop a fitness-for-purpose statement and establish performance requirements on appropriate methodology for testing C. difficile.
C. difficile is an emerging threat, most notably in the healthcare sector where hospital contamination and outbreaks have increased. Key issues include (1) generation of high-quality spore preparations, (2) optimizing recovery and enumeration, (3) strain differences, and (4) surrogates.
Interested applicants are encouraged to submit CVs to Olayinka Ladeji, AOAC Consultant, at oladeji@aoac.org by October 30, 2009.
