Increasing Analytical Capacity for Regulatory Compliance Testing

Predicting and Responding to the Unexpected

In response to a notice in the Federal Register inviting public comment on FDA’s Food Protection Plan, a white paper released this week by AOAC challenges FDA to take charge of its own destiny in increasing analytical capacity for regulatory compliance testing. AOAC Executive Director James Bradford suggests that FDA can lead the development of a standard for third party laboratories. This third party laboratory testing will help the FDA in regulating the unexpected crises that have plagued the food safety community, such as melamine in gluten, said Bradford.

Full coverage of AOAC’s proposal on laboratory consortia is scheduled for the July/August issue of Inside Laboratory Management.
