J. AOAC Int. to Feature Special Guest Editor Section on Modern High Performance Liquid Chromatography in the Analysis of Phytochemicals

The January/February 2011 issue of the Journal of AOAC INTERNATIONAL will feature a Special Guest Editor Section consisting of nine papers on “Modern High Performance Liquid Chromatography in the Analysis of Phytochemicals.” The special section was guest edited by Monika Waksmundzka-Hajnos, Medical University of Lublin, who says, “For every herbal product, regardless of whether it is being sold as a food, food supplement, cosmetic, medical device, dietary supplement, or an approved drug, the quality of the raw material and the finished herbal product is of great importance for consumers and our society. In other words, the assurance of the safety and efficacy of any finished herbal product for consumers requires that the quality is extensively monitored through the most convenient and appropriate chromatographic methods during all steps of their production. HPLC is the premier method today for this purpose.”

The Special Guest Editor Section includes the following contributions:

  • “Resolution and Quantification of Isomeric Fatty Acids by Silver Ion HPLC: Fatty Acid Composition of Aniseed Oil (Pimpinella anisum, Apiaceae),” by Roumen V. Denev, Ivalina S. Kuzmanova, Svetlana M. Momchilova, and Boryana M. Nikolova-Damyanova
