J. AOAC Int. Features Special Section on Trans Fats:
Update on Health Effects, Methodology, and Levels in Processed Foods
The September/October 2009 issue of the Journal of AOAC INTERNATIONAL features a Special Guest Editor Section consisting of six papers on “Trans Fats: Update on Health Effects, Methodology, and Levels in Processed Foods,” guest edited by G. Sarwar Gilani and W.M. Nimal Ratnayake of Health Canada. The collection includes several papers presented at the 122nd AOAC Annual Meeting and Exposition (September 2008), plus other invited contributions.
“This special edition provides worthwhile up-to-date information to consumers, industry, researchers, and regulators regarding methods of analysis, food composition, consumption levels, and health effects of trans fatty acids,” said Gilani, who also serves as a section editor (Food Composition and Additives) for J. AOAC Int.
