2011 Education Sessions: How AOAC and Its Processes Can Work for You

With the evolution of AOAC and its processes, this year’s Annual Meeting features education sessions to inform attendees on the evolved process and how it can work for AOAC members, communities, stakeholders, and customers in solving problems that need analytical solutions. Join us in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA, on September 18–21, 2011, at the 125th AOAC Annual Meeting and Exposition to learn about:

  • Role, development process, and components of standard method performance requirements (SMPRs)
  • SMPR Guideline--a standard format and guidance to ensure consistency and uniformity in SMPRs developed by various stakeholder panels—and its implementation
  • Alternative path to Official First Action Method status
  • AOAC activities today that have resulted in valuable solutions to the analytical sciences community in addressing critical needs through consensus
  • Elevating community method ideas to AOAC brand recognition
  • Evolving roles of volunteers and opportunities for involvement

This session is recommended for all interested members. No prerequisites are required.

Part I

The evolution of AOAC has many community leaders and members wondering how to engage with AOAC to advance the analytical needs of the communities. This session will provide a clear overview of AOAC today and how AOAC is leveraging the passion of the members and its standards development and voluntary consensus activities to empower the industry to address global issues and increase method output. Session attendees will learn about the alternative path to Official First Action status and the processes; and available resources for and within the community. Attendees will leave the session with a toolbox that can be applied in the communities.

This session is recommended for the leadership of communities, technical boards, and committees. No prerequisites required.

Part II

This session will take the foundation provided in Part I and give leaders a clear guidance on how to go from community method ideas to AOAC brand recognition. Attendees will learn how the AOAC processes apply to them at every level of membership. Leaders will learn how their volunteers and members can “get involved” and transform the passion of analytical discourse into action and start solving problems and generating needed methods. Attendees will leave the session with instructions on how to be effective and engage their communities using the AOAC processes.

This interactive session is recommended for the leadership of communities, technical boards, and committees. Prerequisite: AOAC Community Leadership Training Part I.
