Call for Experts


July 14, 2017 [Rockville, MD] AOAC INTERNATIONAL is seeking experts to participate on the Expert Review Panels (ERPs) and evaluate candidate methods for Official Methods of AnalysisSM First Action status in the areas below. You must apply to serve on an ERP using this form . Your application will be reviewed and vetted by the AOAC Official Methods Board (OMB). ERP members must attend ERP meetings in person to determine eligibility of candidate methods for Official Methods of AnalysisSM.

Aloe Vera

General Applicability: Quantitation of characteristic water-soluble aloe vera main constituents and degradation products as per AOAC SMPR 2017.009 and/or identification of acetylated glucomannan polysaccharides derived from aloe vera in dietary ingredients and dietary supplements as per AOAC SMPR 2017.010.
Technology: Various technologies.

Aloin

General Applicability: Determination of Aloin A and Aloin B in Dietary Supplement Products and Ingredients as defined in AOAC SMPR 2015.015.
Technology: Various technologies.

Anthocyanins

General Applicability: Authentication of selected Vaccinium species in dietary ingredients and dietary supplements containing a single Vaccinium species using anthocyanin profiles as defined in AOAC SMPR 2014.007.
Technology: Various technologies.

Cinnamon

General Applicability: Identification of individual selected Cinnamomum spp. bark in dietary supplement raw materials and/or finished products as defined in AOAC SMPR 2015.010.
Technology: Various technologies.

Collagen

General Applicability: Identification and quantitation of individual native (undenatured) and hydrolyzed collagen type I, II and III if one or multiple types are present in dietary ingredients and dietary supplement finished products as defined in AOAC SMPR 2016.005.
Technology: Various technologies.

Free Amino Acids

General Applicability: Identification and quantitation of free alpha amino acids and related compounds in dietary ingredients and finished dietary supplement products as defined in SMPR 2017.011.
Technology: Various technologies.

Folin-C

General Applicability: Estimation of Total Phenolic Content Using the Folin-C Assay as defined in AOAC SMPR 2015.009.
Technology: Any Folin-C reagent-based technique that estimates total phenolic content.

Ginger

General Applicability: Quantitation of the individual constituents [6]-, [8]- and [10]-gingerols, and [6]-shogaol in the dietary ingredients and dietary supplements as defined in AOAC SMPR 2017.012.
Technology: Various technologies.

Kratom

General Applicability: Quantitative Determination of Alkaloids of Mitragyna speciosa as defined in AOAC SMPR 2015.008.
Technology: Various technologies.

Protein

General Applicability: Identification and Quantitation of animal and/or non-animal derived proteins in dietary supplements as defined in AOAC SMPRs 2016.013, 2016.014, 2016.015, and/or 2016.016.
Technology: Various technologies.

Vitamin B12

General Applicability: Quantitation of multiple forms of Vitamin B12 in a variety of dosage forms as defined in AOAC SMPR 2016.017.
Technology: Various technologies.

Vitamin D

General Applicability: Methods which accurately quantitate vitamin D2 (ergocalciferol), vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol), and their pre-vitamin D forms, and, if possible, the 25-hydroxy forms in dietary supplement finished products and the ingredients used to formulate these products.

Vitamins K1 and K2

General Applicability: Individually separate and quantify cis and trans forms of vitamin K1 and vitamin K2; all-trans ¬forms of both MK-4 and MK-7 (vitamin K2); and determine area % for total cis forms of vitamin K2 in dietary ingredients and dietary supplements as defined in AOAC SMPR 2017.013.
