9th Annual AOAC INTERNATIONAL Midyear Meeting and Analytical Solutions Forum
March 11-14, 2019

Don’t miss the AOAC INTERNATIONAL Midyear Meeting, March 11-14, 2019, in Gaithersburg, Maryland, USA, where the scientific community will take the lead on addressing global issues. This year’s meeting will feature standards development activities, a new Analytical Solutions Forum and training on ISO/IEC 17025:2017, and multiple networking opportunities. AOAC will also launch a new program for the analysis of hemp, cannabis, and cannabis-related ingredients/products.

Analytical Solutions Forum: New this year, the Analytical Solutions Forum serves as a science-based, open meeting where global stakeholders identify issues and articulate Standard Method Performance Requirements (SMPRs®) needed for eliminating trade barriers, substantiating health claims, and meeting and/or establishing regulatory requirements. AOAC announces Frank Yiannas, Deputy Commissioner, Food Policy and Response, U.S. Food and Drug Administration, as the keynote speaker. His address, “Analytical Needs to Support Future Regulatory Food Safety and Food Defense Programs,” will be delivered on March 12, 2019.

Training course: Also new for 2019, a 1-day training course by AOAC/A2LA on ISO/IEC 17025:2017 Bridging the Gap from 2005 (MS 110) is designed to provide an overview of the changes to ISO/IEC 17025 in its latest revision and the necessary steps to ensure conformity to the new Standard. Participants will receive a complimentary copy of the new AOAC ALACC Guidelines.

Cannabis Analytical Science Program (CASP): Learn how AOAC is prioritizing methods development for the analysis of cannabis and hemp in food, feed, plant materials, or other substances of interest.

Working groups: See first-hand the AOAC process in action as working groups work toward consensus on standards for gluten in oats, food fraud/authenticity, allergens, furans, and microbiology acceptance criteria.

Stakeholder panels: The AOAC Stakeholder Panel on Infant Formula and Adult Nutritionals (SPIFAN) will continue completing original SPIFAN goals, as well as explore new opportunities in need of standards development. Also, AOAC will explore future needs, challenges, and opportunities for analytical solutions for the dietary supplements community.

Expert review panels (ERPs): Watch the rigorous AOAC method review process in action as ERPs evaluate candidate methods for microbiology, gluten in oats, gluten assays, fertilizers, and infant formula for consideration as First Action.

Networking: Connect with other professionals at multiple networking opportunities. Receptions are sponsored by Microbiologics, Neogen, and Eurofins.
