AOAC held its third 2020 Analytical Methods Week activities the week of October 19 – 23, 2020. Two First Action and one Final Action method were approved by Expert Review Panels. Learn more >

Featuring virtual expert review panel (ERP) meetings, Analytical Methods Week consolidates and streamlines ongoing AOAC consensus-building activities, such as ERP methods reviews and public comment periods, keeping these important steps in the process moving forward.

MONDAY, OCTOBER 19TH    9:30AM – 11:00AM

AOAC Orientation: ERP – New Methods through Final Action OMA Status Orientation for ERPs and their processes including adoption of methods, tracking of First Action Official Methods of Analysis and requirements for changing the action status of Official Methods of Analysis.

AOAC ERP for Microbiology Methods for Food & Environmental Surfaces
The ERP will review one (1) candidate method for the detection of EHEC in select foods.  The ERP will also be discussing specific validation questions.

AOAC ERP for Water Activity Methods
The ERP will review a candidate method for water activity in high volatile concentrations.

The ERP will review two (2) candidate methods for the determination of cannabinoids in chocolate.

The ERP will review two resubmitted candidate methods for furans and alkyl furans in specific foods

AOAC ERP for Microbial Contaminants in Cannabis & Hemp Methods
The ERP will be oriented on AOAC method programs and discuss the emergency response validation for test kits that enumerate yeasts and molds in cannabis.

The ERP will review the AOAC 2017.08, Total Sulfur in Fertilizers, for Final Action consideration. The ERP will also discuss updates from method authors

The ERP will review the AOAC 2013.07, Determination and Confirmation of Nicarbazin, Measured as 4,4-Dinitrocarbanilide (DNC), in Chicken Tissues, for Final Action consideration.

AOAC ERP for SPIFAN Nutrient Methods
The ERP will review six (6) candidate methods for determination of GOS, Human Milk Oligosaccharides, and Lactoferrin in infant formula and adult/pediatric formula

During the AOAC Annual Meeting, this session was interrupted, so the Steering Committee members are reconvening to for the full open discussion.
 1:00PM – 3:00PM Administrator:  Deborah McKenzie at [email protected] Meeting of Experts to discuss general guidelines for using the Kjeldahl method for determination of nitrogen in food and feed.
This is an expert panel discussion to provide guidance to the US TAG to ISO/TC 34 in their systematic review of ISO 1871.
