AOAC will hold its twice-yearly Analytical Methods Week activities the weeks of April 20-24, 2020 and June 22-26, 2020.

Featuring virtual expert review panel (ERP) meetings, Analytical Methods Week consolidates and streamlines ongoing AOAC consensus-building activities, such as ERP methods reviews and public comment periods, keeping these important steps in the process moving forward.

ERP Orientation for reviewing new methods adoption as Official Methods of Analysis both individually and during the ERP meeting

AOAC ERP for Cannabinoid Methods

ERP review of methods that were reviewed for the March 11th meeting.  The ERP will consider the following methods.

  • Cannabinoids in Plant Materials of Hemp (low THC Varieties of Cannabis sp.) by (U)HPLC-UV
  • Cannabinoids in low-THC varieties of Cannabis sativa by HPLC-UV
  • Cannabinoids in Hemp by Liquid Chromatography with UV Absorbance Detection
  • Major Cannabinoids in Hemp Flower and Leaf by LC-PDA
  • AOAC 2018.11 – Cannabinoids in Cannabis Dried Plant Materials, Concentrates, and Oils – A modification proposal

Review of surveys and conclusions for vitamins A, E, D, and B12, folic acid, and inositol. Next steps will be crafted for each working group.

AOAC ERP – Low Lactose Methods

ERP review of methods that were resubmitted based on the September 2019 ERP meeting.  The ERP will consider the following methods:

  • Lactose, free and low, Profile by High Performance Anion Exchange Chromatography with Pulsed Amperometric Detection (HPAEC-PAD)
  • Lactose in Low Lactose Containing Milk and Milk Products by electrochemical biosensor technology
