During the most recent AOAC Official MethodsSM Analytical Methods Week (AMW) held April 24-May 3, 2023, eight ERPs were scheduled to meet to review 11 methods and four (4) validation testing protocols. 

The ERPs that met during AMW along with the methods that were advanced are listed below.

  • ERP for SPIFAN Nutrient Methods – chaired by Darryl Sullivan (Eurofins US)
  • ERP for Acrylamide Methods – chaired by Xi Feng (San Jose State University)

The following candidate methods were adopted as First Action status Official Methods of AnalysisSM:

  • ACRYL-01: Acrylamide in coffee, cereals, baby food, cocoa, petfood, potato products, vegetable crisps, biscuit, tea, nuts and spices by LC-MS/MS.First Action 2022.xx.

The following Expert Review Panels will follow up by e-ballot or with another virtual meeting to finishing discussing the methods in review:

  • ERP for Sulfites in Seafood Methods
  • ERP for Sugars and Fructan Methods
  • ERP for Microbiology Methods for Food & Environmental Surfaces
  • ERP for Organic Acid Methods
  • ERP for Dairy Methods
  • ERP for Low Lactose Methods

Overall ERPs adopted a method for acrylamide, down selected methods for fluoride and HMOs, and approved several method validation protocols. Methods not advanced may be resubmitted as ERPs provided recommendations for resubmission. 

The next AMW is July 24-28, 2023 and the next method submission deadline date: June 9, 2023.
