The Journal of AOAC INTERNATIONAL is seeking candidates for the volunteer position of editor-in-chief (EiC).
About J. AOAC Int.
J. AOAC Int. publishes peer-reviewed research articles on investigations of food safety (chemical and microbiological) issues, but not results from routine analysis or surveys. J. AOAC Int. also publishes reviews, symposium presentations, and invited special sections which focus on methodology, nutritional, health and safety, and regulatory aspects of chemical contaminants in food and environment and major and minor components of food.
Vision
AOAC seeks an EiC to drive J. AOAC Int. toward a clear, forward-looking, and inclusive publication model. The EiC will work closely with the AOAC’s director of Publications to implement this vision and ensure J. AOAC Int. remains at the forefront of analytical science.
The EiC is responsible for growing J. AOAC Int. into a definitive resource within the research and analytical communities. The successful candidate will have awareness and knowledge of recent innovations and challenges in scholarly publishing and a vision for how J. AOAC Int. will thrive. To achieve this goal, the EIC must ensure scientific excellence of the content and integrity of the peer-review process.
The EIC oversees editorial content and the peer-review process; addresses concerns of authors; handles allegations of author misconduct; and acts in accordance with AOAC’s editorial policies and practices.

Interested individuals are invited to submit an application package, including a curriculum vitae, succinct letter of interest and qualifications, statement on possible conceptual direction of J. AOAC Int. in its pursuit of scientific excellence, and innovations that may be considered.
The EiC, which is a three-year term, reports to the AOAC INTERNATIONAL Board of Directors. A stipend will be provided.
