The Journal of AOAC INTERNATIONAL is seeking volunteer Editors. The Journal is published six times yearly, presenting fully-refereed manuscripts on chemical and microbiological analysis in various topic areas such as chemicals in consumer products and environment; food chemical contaminants; food authenticity/food fraud, food allergens; novel Foods; human nutrients; natural products; and microbiological methods.
What You’ll Do
Manage the evaluation and review of submitted research manuscripts across the full scope of the research of the journal;
Judge the scientific value of research and select reviewers for submitted manuscripts;
Discuss and make recommendations regarding manuscripts and reviewer comments with the editorial team and Editor-in-Chief;
Guide authors on manuscript revisions and check the manuscripts for scientific content and style;
Foster relationships and communication with the scientific community through meetings and professional contacts;
Recruiting and commissioning scientific content to be published in the Journal.
Minimum Qualifications
A Ph.D. in chemistry and/or biochemistry with research experience and record of peer-reviewed scientific publications in method development and validation for analysis of chemicals in various sample matrices;
Candidates for Editor in human nutrient section must have comprehensive knowledge of research in methods for major (macronutrients) and minor components (micronutrients, bioactive constituents, additives, and contaminants) of food, as well as methods for assessing biochemistry and physiological outcomes in animal models or humans dealing with nutritional and health;
Excellent outreach skills in order to effectively recruit top research papers to the journal;
Exceptional written, communication, and listening skills in order to communicate with authors and reviewers in evaluating manuscripts;
Preference will be given to candidates with prior scientific editorial experience.
