AOAC INTERNATIONAL is currently seeking an energetic, outgoing Coordinator or Manager of AOAC INTERNATIONAL Science Programs to oversee, implement, monitor, and facilitate the full lifecycle of assigned programs and projects. Successful management and execution of science programs and projects involves serving in a leadership capacity along with demonstrating excellent time, organizational, and resource management. This position includes working and engaging with current and potential new stakeholders, scientific communities, and volunteers; reporting and promoting progress and outcomes and participating in the setting of program/project direction and strategy.  This individual will ensure adherence to established policies and procedures, schedules, specifications, and annual budgets that lead to the successful completion of prescribed scopes of work.

Reporting to the Chief Innovation Officer for Science Programs, this individual will:

  • Coordinate operational and science departmental resources to ensure that programs and projects are completed according to specifications, budgets and timelines
  • Recruit, onboard and manage high performing stakeholder participant and volunteer subject matter expert teams
  • Manage communication flow with relevant stakeholders, including advisory panels, working groups, customers,  members, volunteers, experts and staff
  • Ensure that relevant stakeholders are regularly informed of program or project status
  • Communicate regularly with Science Team Leadership regarding program and project status as well as challenges and opportunities that arise
  • Forecast and identify potential risks and concerns and propose alternate plans when needed
  • Speak publicly, coordinate special projects and perform other duties as needs arise

The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in biological or analytical science (microbiology, molecular biology or biochemistry preferred) with demonstrated program or project management (appropriate project or program management certification preferred) and 5-7 years of relevant work experience, preferably in a scientific association environment. This candidate will also have experience working and communicating in a fast-paced, results-driven environment with competing priorities, and demonstrate excellent organizational and time management skills. In addition, this candidate will demonstrate strong analytical, critical thinking, conflict resolution and problem-solving skills. Advanced computer literacy and proficiency in various software platforms for developing content, documents, spreadsheets, forms, and website updates are a plus. Customer service and team-oriented interpersonal skills are a must.

The level of position offered (Coordinator or Manager) will depend on qualifications of the candidate.
