AOAC INTERNATIONAL is seeking nominations for prospective new members for the Official Methods Board. This is a distinctive opportunity for AOAC members to help scientifically lead the Association toward its goals and serve its mission. The OMB is responsible for the implementation of procedures adopted by the AOAC Board of Directors (BOD) in accordance with the Bylaws with the OMB’s full scope of responsibilities outlined in the BOD approved Terms of Reference for the OMB. The OMB serves the Association in a scientific and advisory capacity on methods and the process of their adoption and provides scientific oversight for AOAC’s scientific programs.
The term for new OMB members will begin on August 27, 2025, at the conclusion of the 2025 AOAC Annual Meeting in San Diego, California, USA.
Basic Eligibility Criteria for OMB Membership
- Must be a member of AOAC INTERNATIONAL in good standing
- Must provide the following supporting documentation:
- Current Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- A letter of support from the sponsoring organization [employer/supervisor]
- A minimum of two (2) letters of recommendation, at least one of which should come from someone other than a current employee, employer, or supervisor. Preferably one letter should be from a current member of AOAC
- Must be able to commit to a three-year (one term) tenure
- Must be willing and able to attend monthly conference calls and working group meetings
- Be able to attend the annual AOAC meetings
- Be willing and capable of acting as the OMB liaison to advisory panels, working groups, ERPs, the Research Institute, and other AOAC groups as needed
- Previous service as an AOAC volunteer, liaison or otherwise be familiar with method validation and AOAC science programs (e.g., Official Methods of Analysis, Performance Tested Methods, Laboratory Proficiency Testing, and standards development activities)
- Demonstrate leadership capabilities through documentation of project management, supervisory experience, or leadership positions within AOAC
