On December 11, Mary Kay Krogull, senior vice president of Eurofins Scientific and member of the AOAC Board of Directors, announced to the Board that the newly formed Eurofins Foundation will fund an annual student prize for “outstanding innovation in analytical or molecular testing for food safety, food authenticity, health or environment protection.” See the Call for Applications >
Up to five winners annually will be selected from student submissions of poster, symposia, or research projects that advance AOAC’s mission and meet criteria envisioned by Eurofins Foundation. Winners will receive complimentary AOAC Annual Meeting registration as well as a cash prize.
“AOAC is committed to encouraging new talent in analytical science,” said Dave Schmidt, AOAC INTERNATIONAL executive director. “We are excited to partner with Eurofins Foundation to ensure our community continues to have the fresh energy and new ideas needed to stay ahead of evolving challenges in food safety testing.”
The annual competition will be promoted through AOAC and academic channels. An AOAC volunteer scientific panel will review the entries and select the winners.
More details and eligibility requirements will be established as part of the AOAC Awards Program. Stay tuned for more information or contact Dawn Frazier at [email protected] with any questions.
