The Proficiency Testing division continues to develop new programs based on participant feedback or regulatory requirements. The Listeria Environmental Swab (LS01) Proficiency Testing program was developed based on the additional needs of laboratories already participating in other AOAC food and environmental PT programs. AOAC PT staff worked with one of its Test Material Providers, Silliker® Food Science Center (Mérieux NutriSciences) to develop this qualitative program which provides four swab samples for the analysis of Listeria (target organism: Listeria monocytogenes, other possible organisms include Listeria innocua). After a pilot and successful live rounds, along with submitted result data and proper documentation to the accrediting body A2LA, the LS01 Listeria Environmental Swab Proficiency Testing is now covered by AOAC’s scope of Accreditation.
