Dr. Tao Hongxun is currently a professor at the School of Food and Biological Engineering, Jiangsu University, Zhenjiang China. He has obtained his PhD in biomedicine from the University of Macau, where he began to adopt the combination of multidisciplinary technology (phytochemistry, multiomic, network pharmacology and molecular biology technology) to investigate the material basis and the mechanism of herbal medicine and functional foods. His research pays great attention to plant materials distributed in special regions, as well as the topic of medicinal & food homology. His work has been supported by 7 projects, and resulted in ≥40 SCI publications.

He plays important roles in several academic organizations, serving as the secretary of the International Association of Dietetic Nutrition and Safety (IADNS), the lifetime member of the Phytochemical Society of Europe (PSE), the member of International Natural Product Sciences Taskforce (INPST), Chinese Pharmaceutical Association (CPA) – Fangji omics Special Committee, China Medical Education Association (CMEA) – Pharmaceutical Science Popularization and Evaluation Branch. He is very active in the fields of both medicinal plants and functional foods, dedicated to promoting the application of plant-based bioactive substances in the health industry.
