Dr. Jinling Shen, Ph.D. in Food Science. She is a research scientist at Technology Center for Animal, Plant and Food Inspection and Quarantine of Shanghai Customs. Jinling has been committed to the rapid detection, antimicrobial resistance, and source tracking of foodborne pathogens. She has developed a series of new and convenient rapid detection methods based on PCR nucleic acid immunogold labeled test strips, recombinase aided amplification (RAA), RAA-CRISPR/Cas12a, etc., which do not rely on large instruments, have low energy consumption, and are very suitable for field applications. She also developed the Campylobacter jejuni real-time PCR identification kit and got AOAC certification (PTM # 081804). Based on comparative analysis of the whole genome sequences of foodborne pathogens in different countries and foods, a “Risk Factor Traceability Analysis Platform for Import and Export Food” has been created. It is the first domestic database that integrates multi-dimensional information such as country/region, sample source, strain ST type, antimicrobial resistance, virulence genes, etc., for port foodborne pathogen traceability analysis. In recent years, she has led (participated in) 20 national and provincial-level scientific research projects, published around 50 high-level papers in international and national journals, developed more than 20 technical standards, published 2 books, and won 6 provincial-level awards.
