AOAC INTERNATIONAL invites method authors and developers to submit relevant methods that are validated and demonstrate that method(s) meet the any of the following Standard Method Performance Requirements (SMPRs®):
Submitted method manuscripts that include expected validation data will be reviewed by an AOAC Expert Review Panel for consideration of AOAC First Action Official Methods of AnalysisSM status. Methods approved by AOAC Expert Review Panel are considered adopted and are published in the compendium, Official Methods of Analysis of AOAC INTERNATIONAL. The approved method manuscript is published in the Journal of AOAC INTERNATIONAL.
Interested method authors or developers should provide a copy of their proposed method, as well as any available data characterizing the analytical performance and scientific validity of the method in an AOAC formatted manuscript1 as and per the submission form.
Ideal method submission packages will include a completed method submission application, a well written AOAC formatted method procedure, a well written AOAC formatted method manuscript, raw data tables and workbooks, and method safety information.
Candidate methods must be able to characterize and quantify ANY OR ALL the following:
Acceptable methods must demonstrate that they meet the appropriate SMPR(s), therefore, being reliable and reproducible when used by trained analysts in accredited laboratories. For the neutral components SMPR, a GC method, which could also be performed by GC × GC, will be considered. For the remaining SMPRs, any analytical technique(s) that measures the analytes of interest and meets the method performance requirements in the SMPR will be considered.
For each candidate method, method authors must complete a submission application (no fee required) with the following information to be included:
If the method or the manuscript is already published, the method author must have and present authorization from the publisher to submit the method for consideration and potential publication by AOAC INTERNATIONAL.
