Members are the heart of AOAC INTERNATIONAL, so it is gratifying that our 2020 end of year review revealed that the organization gained nearly 10 percent more new members than in the previous year. As of the review closure on November 30, 2020, AOAC had gained 533 newcomers from 47 countries worldwide representing every continent:
Overall, individual membership grew to 2,253, which represents a modest but steady 2 percent increase in a year when 60 percent of associations saw their membership stagnate or shrink2. The 2020 AOAC membership community encompasses a vibrant community of individuals from more than 90 countries, working in industry, government and academia as laboratory managers, analytical chemists, microbiologists, food scientists and management executives.
Organizational Members are instrumental in AOAC’s work to identify, prioritize, and solve global and local food safety testing challenges and we are pleased to welcome 10 new Organizational members in 2020. Nine joined the community at the Supporter level and one at the Associate level:
By working with AOAC and other key stakeholders, such as industry, regulators, and academia, these new Organizational Members are helping to advance analytical science through cooperative problem-solving. Overall, AOAC’s Organizational Membership includes four organizations at Ambassador level, four at Executive level, 24 Affiliates, five Associates, 16 Sustainers, and an impressive 37 Supporters.
