AOAC announces Xu-Liang Cao of Health Canada as the newest section editor of the Journal of AOAC INTERNATIONAL.

Cao will assist in overseeing contributions to J. AOAC Int. specific to methods of analysis for human nutrients and environmental chemical contaminants, which continue to advance the state-of-the-art in analytical instrumentation and methodology.

“There are not many journals that are over 100 years old, and the Journal of AOAC INTERNATIONAL is one of the best in the field,” Cao said. “It’s a great honor to be part of this team. I am looking forward to working with my co-editors for many years to come to make this great Journal even better.”

Cao has been employed at Health Canada since 1995, where he is currently a research scientist in the Food Research Division of the Bureau of Chemical Safety. He is a recognized expert in the field of analytical chemistry and analytical methods for BPA, and AOAC and FAO/WHO have called on his expertise in this area. A member of AOAC INTERNATIONAL since 2002, Cao participated on the AOAC Expert Review Panel for BPA Methods. He also served as a member of the AOAC food panel.

Cao currently serves as an editorial board member for Journal of Food Science and Annals of Public Health and Research. In addition, he is a review editor for Frontiers in Analytical Chemistry and serves as a reviewer of manuscripts for over 30 journals. Cao has published nearly 80 refereed publications.

He received his masters and doctorate degrees in Environmental Organic Chemistry from Brunel University and Lancaster University (both in the United Kingdom), respectively.
