Director, 2023-2024

Dustin Starkey is currently Director of Nutrients Testing, Global Analytical and Food Safety, for Abbott Laboratories’ nutrition business in Columbus, Ohio, USA. His primary responsibility is leading a team of scientists who develop and validate test methods for nutrients in infant and adult nutritional products and provide routine nutrient testing for R&D. He has served as Director-at-Large for AOAC INTERNATIONAL and is an active participant in the AOAC Stakeholder Panel for Infant Formula and Adult Nutritionals, representing Abbott on stakeholder and advisory panels. 

Dustin has also served on the AOAC Ad Hoc Expert Panel on Sweetness, Membership Committee, Technical Programming Council, Task Force for Gaining Mobile Method Acceptance, and delegation to the Codex Committee on Methods of Analysis and Sampling and Codex Committee on Nutrition and Foods for Special Dietary Uses, advocating for endorsement of globally harmonized, fit-for-purpose methods for label-claim nutrients. He is also a member of the ANSI-accredited and AOAC-administered U.S. Technical Advisory Group to ISO Technical Committee 34.

Dustin earned a BS degree in forensic chemistry from Ohio University, PhD in analytical chemistry from the University of Cincinnati, and MBA from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
