AOAC INTERNATIONAL (AOAC) invites method developers to submit methods for validation and certification through AOAC Performance Tested Method℠ (PTM) program administered by the AOAC Research Institute. Prospective methods should be able to detect drug analytes (benzodiazepines, fentanyl, medetomidine, nitazenes, and xylazine) in selected drug bulk solids, liquids, and residues by lateral flow immunoassays or aptamer test strips.
An eligible method must meet the various parameters outlined in the Standard Method Performance Requirements (AOAC SMPR® 2025.002) and should be validated according to the accompanying Standard Protocol AOAC SP 2025.001.
Reference the SMPR® protocol for definitions and the method performance and validation requirements for parameters such as limit of detection (LOD), probability of detection (POD), cross reactivity studies, and environmental factor and field use studies. Additional drugs and classes can be validated according to a similar protocol and framework.
For PTM submissions, questions, or support, please contact the AOAC Research Institute (RI) at [email protected]. Additionally, a virtual training webinar was completed on December 12, 2025 and can be accessed for free in the AOAC Store.
