On November 5, 2019, AOAC Executive Director Dave Schmidt and Cannabis Analytical Science Program (CASP) Program Lead Scott Coates met with the Board of Directors of the Association of Food and Drug Officials (AFDO) to update them on the 2019 accomplishments and 2020 plans for the Cannabis Analytical Science Program (CASP).
AFDO, an important and active participant in CASP, connects food and medical products safety stakeholders and impacts the regulatory environment to protect public health. AFDO’s programs include the Cannabis Committee, a forum for discussion of issues associated with cannabis products and the associated activities of state regulatory agencies who deal with these products.
AFDO and AOAC agreed to keep each other informed of ongoing activities in general, and specifically regarding hemp and cannabis. AFDO Executive Director Steven Mandernach announced that AFDO would continue its support of CASP as a Pioneer Level member in 2020.
