At the March 2022 AOAC Board of Directors Meeting, the Board approved the chartering of the Arab Section as the 19th Regional Section of AOAC INTERNATIONAL. The Section will also become a member of the AOAC Committee on Sections, comprised of leaders from each Section.

Key food laboratory organizations in the Arab region, particularly the Global Food Regulatory Science Society (GFoRSS), let the effort to structure the new Arab Section and ensure it supports:

  • Efforts to standardize food analytical methods
  • Efforts to accredit food testing laboratories
  • Data sharing related to method performance and validation
  • Addressing challenges of emerging issues in food safety and quality

Arab Section leaders will be presented with an official AOAC INTERNATIONAL gavel at the Opening Session and Awards Ceremony of the 2022 AOAC Annual Meeting & Exposition.

The Arab Section will encompass the following countries: Algeria, Bahrain, Comoros, Djibouti, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Palestinian Territories, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates, and Yemen.
